Star Trek: Picard is looking more and more like a Trekkie’s dream come true.
Star Trek: Voyager star Jeri Ryan and Star Trek: The Next Generation alum Brent Spiner will join Patrick Stewart in the cast of the upcoming CBS All Access series, it was revealed during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. The two Trek veterans joined Stewart on the panel, which also offered a new sneak peek at the hotly anticipated sequel series (watch trailer here).
Spiner will reprise his TNG role as android Data — TVLine has confirmed he is playing Data and not Data’s android brother B-4 — with Jeri Ryan returning as Voyager‘s rehabbed Borg Seven of Nine. In the sneak peek, she asks Picard, “What the hell are you doing out here… saving the galaxy?” The trailer also features old pals Picard and Data facing off over a game.
In addition, Stewart’s Next Generation co-stars Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and Marina Sirtis (Troi) will make appearances on Picard, which is set to debut in early 2020 on the streamer.
Technically, Brent Spiner would be playing B-4.
Read the article. It’s says there that TV Line confirmed he is playing Data, not B-4.
I am confused I thought data was destroyed
No. Just disassembled.
B-4, shut down but reactivated at the end of Nemesis while slowly gaining Data’s memories(singing the song Data sang at the Riker’s wedding, that B-4 wasnt at)
Data, blown up to save the crew of the Enterprise-E(and countless others)
so no, Data WASN’t disassembled
I believe Brent Spiner is re-creating his role as Data in a flashback. That’s why Patrick Stewart’s Picard seems to act older than he should in the trailers: in a flashback it’s easier for him to behave younger.
I think there’s a chance Picard is in a holodeck, no?
you are forgetting about Lore- his body was dissembled but all they have to do is tranfer datas memories and conciousness from B4 to Lore’s brain
you are forgetting about Lore- his body was dissembled but
Wait, is Brent playing Data or B4?
As Data is an android, guess his ageing will be explained by…?
Seven is one of my all time favourite characters so I’m thrilled she will appear
watch the trailer. He hasn’t aged. CGI
Who needs makeup or botox in the digital age?lol!
mmm…7of9…
OMG… yes and yes
But probably no Worf, because they messed up the Klingons and now Worf can’t exist. I’m still not sold on this being anything more than a Discovery universe alternate version of Picard. I’d love to be wrong, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
What happens on Discover does not negate the TNG timeline’s existence.
No, but the reasoning for altering the Klingons wasn’t creative, it was financial. So the question is, if Klingons appear on the Picard series, will they be fishy-Pennywise Klingons? If so, Worf cannot appear, or exist as he did in the TNG/DS9 continuity.
Discovery Trek just doesn’t jive with established Trek. Which is fine if you like it, but they can’t try to sell them as connected in any way.
Picard has nothing to do with the Discovery series or its timeline, its not an alternate Universe either its already been said that this takes place in the same Universe and timeline of TNG its 20 some years after the events of Nemisis. As for Data its possible that they found away to bring Data back and or the memories Data uploaded to B4 developed over time and he reverted to just being data, or it could be a Holodeck version.
That’s the thing… the Discovery creators originally tried to sell us on the idea that Discovery took place in the same universe as the classic Trek shows. It clearly does not. So now they’re telling us that this is the same Picard that we always knew… which can only be true if this actually were the original TNG universe. Which means that none of the Discovery changes can be carried into this series.
I don’t think it’s likely that they will undermine their own continuity or invalidate their own product. So I don’t know what to make of this.
Discovery and Picard will exist in the same universe. The discovery crew have jumped forward in time so expect hints at crossovers in the future.
They’ve jumped beyond the TNG timeline, but, with that suit, perhaps Burnham figures out a way to make it stable for practical use.
Discovery, and by extension are in the Prime universe. You don’t have to like it, but if that’s the universe the producers say it’s in, that’s the universe it’s in. Nothing you can say will change that. Get over it.
And get over the design of the Klingons, too. Let me guess, you were one of those upset with ST: Enterprise because the NX-01 looked more modern than Kirk’s original 1701, am I right?
Correction: Discovery and by extension, Picard are in the prime universe…
Why does the article say it’s debuting in early 2020? Every source is saying Q4 2019 as far as I know unless they changed it at SDCC.
I Love That They Are Doing Another Star Trek I Am So Excited And Totally Stoked I Have Watched All The Star Treks And Continue To Watch Them Over And Over Again My Dream Is To One Day Meet All Of Ya’ll And Get Your AutographsI Think Ya’ll All Awesome And God Bless Ya’ll
Jeri Ryan looks great in that picture.
Another show I would like going to streaming service. Do these tv exes not realize that most people cannot afford to pay for all these services on top of regular cable. In Canada, many of these are not even available, so not an option. I was looking forward to this show but not now I guess. Frustrating.
I cut cable two years ago and stream everything I want to watch, yes I pay for several services, but it is still way cheaper than cable ever was.
Riker and Troi wrecked the last episode of “Enterprise”. Won’t watch on his new one.
Lore was dissasembled in TNGs Descent part 2. All they have to do is reassemble him and transfer Datas memories from B4 to Lore= then Data can be reborn! B4 wasnt as sophisticated as Date, but Lore was!
I say stop speculating, stop crying about Discovery and Picard and just watch and enjoy the show. Why do people have to nitpick everything, I am just looking forward to having Patrick Stewart back as Picard, Brent Spiner as Data and Jeri Ryan as 7 of 9.
Let’s hope that they bring back Q to torment Picard once again.
