The Office of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QA&IE)

The Office of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QA&IE) formerly (QA&IA) resides within the Office of the President, with primary responsibility for the design, development and implementation of a university-wide system for quality assurance and accreditation and an integrated approach to institutional research that is linked to strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making.

The work of the office is supported by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that facilitates more effective communication among institutional stakeholders.

QA&IE is headed by a Vice-President Quality Assurance & Institutional Effectiveness and supported by system managers with responsibility for quality assurance and improvement, institutional research and effectiveness, and knowledge systems and technology solutions. The QA&IE unit currently has a total of twelve (12) staff members.

UTT has institutional accreditation from ACTT to offer programmes up to the doctoral degree.

Mission of QA&IE
"To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) and support institutional decision making and innovation through the technology-driven collection, analysis and use of evidence and data for institutional improvement".

Role of QA&IE
QA&IE contributes to the achievement of UTT's mission by being the driving force for:

  • A robust, university-wide quality assurance system that is evidence-based and underpinned by self-evaluation and external review
  • A systematic approach to institutional research that captures, produces and disseminates information to facilitate and improve decision-making and strategic planning
  • An integrated approach to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) that is driven by the institutional mission and supported by innovative technologies.

Code of Professional Conduct
This Code of Professional Conduct sets out standards of professional behaviour for staff; defines and standardises expectations; establishes our core values and ethical standards; and guides the behaviour of all employees as individuals and in our relationships with colleagues and all internal and external stakeholders.
All employees of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) who are assigned to the Office of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QA&IE) will:

  • Use due diligence and exercise high standards of timeliness, appropriateness and accuracy in the exercise of their duties
  • Exercise integrity, honesty and ethical conduct in all professional and related activities
  • Seek to continually improve their individual performance and update their skills and knowledge
