What is Process Engineering?

Process Engineering is concerned with the processes of change or transformation which convert raw materials into useful products. It is a well established engineering discipline worldwide with thousands of products being produced from a wide variety of raw materials sources and representing billions of dollars worth of output.

In addition to working with existing technologies, graduates trained in Process Engineering are also becoming more heavily involved in the development of new technologies such as fuel cells, production of microelectronics, hydrogen power, biotechnology, polymers and composite materials, nanotechnology and biomedical engineering. The challenges facing the production of power in an environmentally friendly manner has also resulted in increasing number of Process Engineers being involved in this sector.
