The Postgraduate Diploma in Education is a one-year part-time teacher preparation programme for both in-service and pre-service teachers who already hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in several academic domains necessary for teaching in the Trinidad and Tobago education system. These domains range from Mathematics and Science, to disciplines in the Humanities including Social Studies, History, Geography, Sociology and other related fields.

Entry Requirements:

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
• An undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• Experiential and lifelong learning may be considered if there is a GPA deficiency,
• Statement of purpose clearly indicating that the proposed diploma is appropriate to the applicant's professional aspirations

Mature Entry:

An applicant who does not satisfy all the stipulated minimum academic qualifications for admission to the programme, based on years of experience and the ability to achieve the level of programme learning, may be accepted as a mature student. A petition should be submitted to the Centre for Education Programmes detailing the experience and qualifications in lieu of the required GPA.

The Professional Certificate in ICT for Teachers was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The programme is intended for teachers of Information Technology (IT) / Computer Science / Computer Studies in the secondary school system who are classified as Teacher II (TII) and who wish to be upgraded to Teacher III (TIII) upon successful completion of the programme. The programme also seeks to improve and enhance the teaching ability of the target group.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must be practising teachers of IT / Computer Science / Computer Studies in the secondary school system. Alternatively, teachers of Mathematics or any of the Sciences with an interest in the teaching of IT / Computer Science / Computer Studies will also be considered.A teacher’s registration number must be submitted along with application.

This programme within the Centre for Information and Communications Technology (CICT) reaffirms UTT's commitment to developing the critical thinking and experiential skills needed to navigate new and emerging technologies within national and global contexts. 

The programme prepares graduates for employment and ICT careers in the Public and Private sectors in the following areas/industries: Banking, Government, Insurance, Manufacturing, Utilities e.g. T&TEC, TSTT, WASA, Health, National Security, Energy Companies, virtually any company using ICT technologies to advance their business strategy.

The Master of Science in Innovation, Manufacturing Management and Entrepreneurship (IMME) allows graduates to explore their entrepreneurial business idea(s) throughout the programme with courses offered to enhance both their management and business process improvement skills with a special thrust being exposure to the local industry. The M.Sc. in IDE is a taught master’s programme with a mix of design and business courses with a special thrust being exposure to the local industry. The students also will be exposed to international industry via an international study tour.

This programme is offered biennially (once every two years).

The Master of Science in Integrated Coastal and Ocean Management provides appropriate training and research experience to support sustainable use and rehabilitation of our coasts and oceans. This programme within the Advanced Centre for Coastal and Oceanic Research and Development (ACCORD) targets students interested in a specific career path in Coastal and Ocean Management and ensures theoretical and practical knowledge and experience that will be relevant to national, regional and international development and enterprise. Training also provides a hands-on approach to leading edge techniques and technologies and assists improvement of life skills that will support entrepreneurship. 

This degree is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST) of the United Kingdom (UK).

• A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree from an approved university with a B+ average, upper second class, or an equivalent cGPA;

The Master of Science in Operational Maritime Management at The University of Trinidad and Tobago is designed to build the human resource capacity required to enhance the development of the local and regional maritime sector. The programme is currently subscribed to by persons holding middle to senior management positions in the industry. The M.Sc. • demonstrate safety management in the Maritime Industry
• apply risk management techniques within the specialized context of maritime operations
• apply knowledge of international trade, international legal compliance and principles of marine environmental protection with specific reference to the Caribbean region
• evaluate the factors which influence port and maritime economics and how these apply to different trades and the various sectors of the maritime industry
