After finding success with a documentary series chronicling the 1960s, CNN is preparing a new one for 2015 that will examine the decade that followed.

The Time Warner outlet said it would produce an eight part documentary with Playtone and Herzog & Co. in association with HBO. The non-scripted series, “The Seventies,” will be executive produced by  Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman as well as Mark Herzog of Herzog & Company, as an original series for CNN’s U.S. network.

The new series is expected to debut in the summer of 2015, CNN said.

The network said “The Seventies” would launch with a one-hour episode examining the era’s television programming and how it reflected new social currents. The episode will also chronicle the establishment of two big TV franchises: ABC’s “Monday Night Football”(now on ESPN) and NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

Subsequent  one-hour episodes will delve into everything from the Vietnam War to Watergate. Episodes will also cover the evolving music scene of the decade, the Iran Hostage Crisis, the sexual revolution, and the rise in terrorism at home and abroad. Archival and rarely-seen film, video and photographs will provide additional documentation of the era.
