  • Pregnancy Services

    A network of faculty, staff, and students is available to provide support and referrals to pregnant Georgetown students on the medical, emotional, and spiritual issues involved with pregnancy.

    L.I.F.E. Outdoor Adventure Program

    L.I.F.E. provides students with the opportunity to go biking, hiking, or canoeing or to enjoy other outdoor activities. Much like Outward Bound, the program encourages self-reliance and builds confidence. The Get a L.I.F.E Newsletter is mailed to students monthly.

    Women's Health Services

    Health Education provides educational programming to all first-year women on reproductive health and eating issues. In addition, professionals are available for consultation and to act as liaison to women's groups on campus.

    Center for Substance Abuse Prevention

    The Center is designed to educate and inform students about the choices surrounding alcohol and drug use.

    Individual and Group Counseling

    Individuals, families, or groups can obtain confidential counseling with health professionals from various fields or request referrals to other services both on- and off-campus.

    Special Outreach Events and Programming
    Health Enhancement Fair

    Held every April in the Leavey Center, the Health Fair includes professionals who provide information and demonstrations on a variety of topics, ranging from biofeedback to aromatherapy to cholesterol screening.

    Educational Presentations

    The Health Education staff gives presentations on a range of topics, including eating disorders, physical fitness, stress management, and substance abuse. Call Carol Day to have a specific program tailored to meet your group's needs.

    Playing Jeopardy

    In association with New Student Orientation, Health Education directs skits designed to help incoming first-year students adapt to dorm life and an urban environment. The skits focus on robbery, acquaintance rape, and cultural diversity.

    Peer Education

    Academic course credit is given to students who participate in programs designed to educate their peers about making healthy choices. Discussions include HIV/AIDS, Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and Acquaintance Rape.

    The Healthletter

    The Healthletter is periodically distributed to all students and contains information which helps students choose healthy foods, make prudent decisions regarding drugs and alcohol, and lead a physically active life.
