We need to adapt to a world in which the border between domestic and foreign affairs is crossed everywhere,  and most particularly by science and technology.

- Carnegie Commission, 1992

Science, Technology, and International Affairs (STIA) is one of seven undergraduate majors offered by the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown.

It is a multi and interdisciplinary program that aims to equip undergraduate students with the tools needed to understand the complex array of problems at the intersection of science and international affairs. It was originally established in the early 1980s as a subfield of the major in International Politics, and was recognized as an independent major during the 1996-97 academic year.
