The Mongolian Foundation for Open Society (MFOS) is dedicated to promoting the development of democratic civil society by supporting Mongolian organizations, institutions, and individuals that work to increase openness, accountability, and transparency; that encourage the active participation of citizens in society; and that support tolerance and pluralism.

The Foundation is involved with programs and initiatives that improve education and access to information, support public health care, and promote alternative arts and culture. MFOS’s projects have included: helping build NGO capacity by encouraging networking, cooperation, and involvement in policy decision making; encouraging teachers, students and parents to influence educational reform; educating health and medical professionals; disseminating health information to the public; improving rural radio stations, information centers, libraries, and Internet access; and organizing international arts festivals.
