The primary focus areas of the Scholarship Programs are listed below. Please select an individual focus area for additional information.

Alumni Grant Program
The program offers grants to Scholarship Programs alumni to further expand the knowledge gained during their fellowship and make a positive contribution to their home country.

American University in Bulgaria
Scholarship Programs fund 20 scholarships for four years of undergraduate liberal arts study at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG), located in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

Centre National Des Ouvres Universitaires Et Scolaires (CNOUS)
Scholarship Programs and the Centre National Des Ouvres Universitaires Et Scolaires (CNOUS) offer up to 10 awards for students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan for one-year study on the postgraduate level at French universities.

DAAD-OSI Program
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Scholarship Programs sponsor a joint scholarship program for graduate students and junior faculty in the Transcaucasian and Central Asian countries of the former Soviet Union.

Faculty Development Fellowship Program
The Faculty Development Fellowships are offered to junior faculty in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Global Supplementary Grant Program
The Global Supplementary Grant Program offers supplementary grants to students from selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Edmund S. Muskie/FREEDOM Support Act (FSA) Graduate Fellowship Program
The Edmund S. Muskie/FREEDOM Support Act (FSA) Graduate Fellowship Program awards some 330 fellowships annually to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Roma Memorial University Scholarship Program
The program offers scholarships for eligible Romani students at the university level. Applications for the 2004-2005 academic year are currently being accepted.

Social Work Fellowship Program
The Social Work Fellowship Program is designed to provide training in social work to implement reform, create policy and foster the development of social work in the participating countries.

Soros Supplementary Grant Program
The Soros Supplementary Grant Program was created to assist citizens of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia who are pursuing advanced study within this region but outside of their home countries.

Supplementary Grant Program (Burma)
Grants are awarded to Burmese students on the basis of academic record, applicants’ long-term goals, and financial need.

UK Scholarship Programs
The UK Scholarship Programs include one-year scholarships, generally in the social sciences and humanities, for students and scholars from Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union to study at various graduate institutions in the United Kingdom.

Undergraduate Exchange Program
The program supports students from Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, and Serbia in the United States for one year of non-degree academic studies. A 2005-2006 application is available online.
