Spotlight On:
Rutland, Vermont Meetup group
update by Joe Moore, organizer

"Rutland, Vermont is the victim of a single daily newspaper, The Rutland Herald, which is quite simply, a liberal rag that will barely acknowledge the presence of conservative people in the locality. Conservatives, of which there are many in Vermont, have long been relegated to the fringe, most especially in the area of politics.

Fed up with this constant treatment, a new website has been founded which is taking on the liberal Herald. Called DefyTheHerald.com it is a place for conservative people to get their opinions in print so they can be heard. It's intention is to do to the liberals what the Herald does to the conservatives...simply ignore them and their diatribes.

Anyone may submit an opinion piece, but only those that foster conservative values and support conservative candidates and opinions will be posted on the web site.

The brainchild of a respected Vermont native and a member of TownHall Meetup, it is now up and running for all to see. Temporary bumper stickers are being distributed as we wait for permanent ones to be made.

It is time the Herald and newspapers like it returned to genuine journalism, remembering that freedom of the press and access to the press is to be enjoyed by ALL people. The press is supposed to present ALL the facts and allow ALL sides of an issue to be discussed and debated. The press is not supposed to be the play thing of the liberal, but the tool to inform and educate the entire populace.

If freedom of the press is to mean anything at ALL, then it must be available to ALL.

Join us in a new revolution to DefyTheHerald.com!
