EUMAP

EUMAP (the EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program) monitors the development of selected human rights and rule of law issues in both the European Union (EU) and in its candidate and potential candidate countries.

The Program works with national experts and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to compile reports which are distributed widely throughout Europe and internationally. The reports are designed to encourage broader participation in the process of articulating the EU’s common democratic values as well as in ongoing monitoring of compliance with human rights standards throughout the union.

EUMAP is currently focusing on the following issues:

  • access to education and employment for people with intellectual disabilities (in cooperation with OSI’s Open Society Mental Health Initiative) in 15 European countries; and
  • TV across Europe: regulation, policy, and independence (in cooperation with OSI’s Media Program) in 21 European countries.

Previous EUMAP reports have focused on minority protection, judicial independence, judicial capacity, and corruption and anti-corruption policy. A report on equal opportunities for women and men was produced by OSI's Network Women’s Program in cooperation with EUMAP.

The EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program maintains its own separate website at www.eumap.org.
