Following the readings, make a traditional buzz toy that Native children have played with throughout the Americas.

Master Weaver, Miguel Andrango (Quichua) will demonstrate the tradition of backstrap weaving from the Andean highlands of northern Ecuador. Andrango is founder of the Tahuantinsuyo Weaving Workshop program in his community of Otavalo, Ecuador.

Linda Poolaw (Kiowa/Delaware) is a leader of the Delaware tribe, a respected Native activist, and the first Grand Chief of the Delaware of North America.In this lecture she will describe how the Lenape lived in the New York area prior to the Europeans' arrival, and how their descendants live today. Join us in two-days full of Native American activities. Learn about tipis with Louis Mofsie (Hopi/Winnegabo) inside a 25'tipi and participate in an interactive Native dance workshop with Joe Cross (Caddo) and Donna Couteau (Sac and Fox). Mary Louise Defender Wilson (Hidatsa/Dakota) will share storytelling from the Plains. Hands-on workshops include making a felt horse, tipi decorating, parfleche folder making and much more!

Families will view the paintings of George Catlin from the exhibit George Catlin and His Indian Gallery and create their own paintings. Karah English (Maidu) will lead this workshop.

Selections from The Lost Children, written and illustrated by Paul Goble, and Buffalo Dance, retold by Nance Van Laan and illustrated by Beatriz Vidal, will be highlighted. After the readings, decorate toy tipis made from paper.
