This OSI-sponsored forum looks at how documentary photography has reframed our perceptions of growing old and reshaped the way we view the elderly. Moderated by the curator of OSI's Moving Walls exhibit, photographer Susan Meiselas, the panel includes Bob Blancato, president of the firm Matz, Blancato & Associates; photographer Ed Kashi, whose work appeared in Moving Walls 3; Kaja Snell, an advocate for the aging; and writer Julie Winokur.

The Photography as Advocacy series analyzes the role photography plays in advocacy, the extent to which it is successful, and how those involved—as subject, photographer, or audience—perceive a work and its effects. Participants also address how a photographer’s agenda influences the final project.
