• Participants may not submit more than two works each per category.


• Only television works produced as of January 1st, 2004 are eligible.


• A complete copy of each work is to be sent on (VHS) tape to be reviewed by the jury, in addition to another (Betacam SP or Digital Betacam) (PAL).


• Each work should be accompanied by a synopsis explaining the concept and details of the work, in addition to a collection of still photographs to be used in the festival's bulletins and publications.


• Each participant is to send a tape (Betacam SP or Digital Betacam) (PAL) recording of three minute duration, of selected shots of each work, to be shown as a promotion, and at the closing ceremony, in case the work wins a festival award.


• Before sending works submitted to competitions, any advertisements or promotions that may have been included in the work should be removed.


• A special participation form should be filled out and submitted.

 

 

Screening:

 

• Approximately 15 films will be selected from the participating films to be screened at the Festival. Participants will be officially notified soon after the selection.

 

• Works to be screened at the festival shall be in Arabic or English or subtitled in one of the two languages, complete with a soundtrack.


• In the event the work is selected for screening, the participant should send a complete text with English or Arabic translation, so the organizers can perform subtitling.

 

• Each participant is required to send a tape (Betacam SP or Digital Betacam -PAL) containing 3 minutes of selected scenes to be shown at the closing ceremony in case the work wins a festival award.

 

 

Publicity:

 

a.      Participants hereby authorize Festival organizers to broadcast portions of their work for the promotion of the Festival on television, the internet, or other media (segments totaling 3 minutes or less)

b.      They also authorize the use of still photos in the official catalog, the JIF   website, and other publicity materials.

c.      TV stations and production companies are asked to send their colored Logo (if possible) to be used in the Catalog.

 

 Dates:

 

• Deadline for receiving applications to participate in competitions is Saturday December 20th, 2005.


• Deadline for receiving tapes to be entered in competitions is Thursday December 1st, 2005.


• Deadline for participating in the festival exhibition is Thursday December 29th, 2005.

 

 

Shipping:

 

Shipping expenses to the Festival for video cassettes,

are to be paid by the entrants.

 

Return of video cassettes: Video cassettes submitted to the Festival will not be returned to entrants. They are retained at Aljazeera International Festival Library for research and educational screening purposes.
