Official censuses and estimations are mostly the basis of the population figures presented
on this web site; the definition of agglomerations is sometimes based on unofficial or own estimates.
Please note that the data of such statistics are all of varying, and some of suspect accuracy. There are several reasons:
the varying relevance and accuracy of the base data, the poor comparability of the definitions of agglomerations, errors in the projections and so on.
If population figures are depicted by an italic font, then they have a lower quality than the other data.
Reasons may be (e.g.) that the value is based on my own estimates or calculations, that the referred area has changed its extension, or that
the given population figure refers to another state or date of investigation than the other figures in the same column.
For non-central cities and towns that belong to an agglomeration, the name of the central city of the agglomeration is often given as a relative link
in agglomeration columns.
