Artist Dialogue with Virgil Ortiz and Joe Baker

Join artist Virgil Ortiz (Cochiti Pueblo) and curator Jo Baker (Delaware Tribe of Indians), the LLoyd Kiva New curator of fine art of the Heard Museum, Phoenix, as they discuss Ortiz's work and the artist's one-man show at the museum, La Renaissance Indigène.

Children's Storybook Reading and Workshop

Join author Miranda Belarde-Lewis (Tlingit/Zuni) as she reads from her book Meet Lydia: A Native Girl from Southest Alaska. Belarde-Lewis will also read How Raven Stole the Sun, by Maria Williams with illustrations by Felix Vigil and Whale in the Sky, by Ann Siberell. After the reading, design a button blanket wall hanging.

Tour the exhibition Born of Clay with Angela Friedlander (Metis). Participants will view various ceramic pieces that incorporate movement and expression.
