Forecast Division

The task of the Forecast Division is to analyse macroeconomic developments in Sweden and abroad and to forecast inflation against the background of the Riksbank’s price stability target. With the aid of econometric models and external sources of information, the division conducts regular macroeconomic assessments of economic developments one to two years ahead. These assessments are presented inter alia in the Inflation Report, which is published four times a year. The division analyses developments in demand and output, both at fixed and current prices.

The macroeconomic analyses also require a more in-depth underlying analysis, as well as evaluation and interpretation of changed fundamental conditions, for example as regards fiscal or labour market policy, or other structural conditions of significance for monetary policy. An essential part of the division’s work is also to improve the methods and models used in forecasting macroeconomic developments and inflation.
