Sveriges Riksbank seeks postgraduate students
Sveriges Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden, invites four students to take part in our summer program for graduate students. The students selected will spend the period June to the end of August 2006 with the Monetary Policy Department (APP). The exact dates are negotiable. The monthly salary offered is SEK 15,000.

APP monitors and analyses economic developments in Sweden and abroad in order to produce reports and work out proposals for monetary policy measures. Within APP there is a research division (FOA) that conducts research into issues and methods relevant to the Riksbank’s activities, including financial stability analysis, and provides support to the other departments in their development work. Students who are conducting research on financial stability issues will be given opportunities to meet economists at the Financial Stability Department (AFS).

The purpose of the summer programme is to encourage analysis and research into issues relevant to the Riksbank. It is therefore suitable for students who have finished the course part in their Ph.D. program and are working on their dissertations.

Participants in the program will receive insight into the practical conduct of monetary policy. This will hopefully lead to the students becoming aware of relevant monetary policy issues, which can lead to a fruitful dissertation project. However, the summer program entails no undertaking from the bank with regard to future employment for the students.

Applications shall be sent to the undersigned, to arrive no later than 21 April 2006. They should include a curriculum vitae, a document from the university department listing completed courses in the Ph.D. program, as well as a letter of recommendation from a supervisor or other person at the department familiar with the applicant’s studies. A written paper/essay would also be of merit.

Further information on the summer programme can be obtained from Hans Dillén, tel. +46-8-787 0669, or Tor Jacobson, tel. +46-8-787 0697.

Yours sincerely,

Hans Dillén
