On November 4, 2000 Sheikh Mohammed officially launched Dubai's Media City. Dubai's investment in the Media City is approximately 800 million dollars. The city houses cutting-edge technology, including production and transmission facilities.

Little known to the that cross it every day, the bridge over the lake in Media City is Dubai's first bridge in the new Millennium that corsses over a large body of water. This brings the total number of bridges that cross over water in the city of Dubai to 6 (2 more bridges were built in 2003-2004).
