It's well known that John Kennedy was elected U.S. president in 1960. Less well known is that he was also published in Britannica that year. His subject was Oliver Ellsworth, third chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and chief author of the U.S. federal court system. In honour of Kennedy's birthday this week, we highlight his Britannica biography of Ellsworth, which has been updated by Ellsworth scholar William Casto.
