All 1-krona coins minted from 1875 onwards are legal tender.

The front of the updated 1-krona coin (obverse) shows a portrait of King Carl XVI Gustaf and the text " CARL XVI GUSTAF SVERIGES KONUNG " (Carl XVI Gustaf King of Sweden). Under the portrait is the year the coin was struck.

 

On the back of the coin (reverse) there is a royal crown and the King's motto " FÖR SVERIGE . I TIDEN " (For Sweden. With the times). Below the crown is the text "EN KRONA" (One krona) and the figure "1". The edge of the coin is milled. The coin is silver-coloured.

 

The side with the denomination also carries two small letters. The letter on the left is for the place where the coin was struck (E for Eskilstuna). The letter on the right is the first letter of the Riksbank Governor's surname.

 

The coin is designed by artist Ernst Nordin.

1-krona, 1976 - 2000

The one-krona coin struck during the period 1976 to 2000 carries a portrait of king Carl XVI Gustaf on the front (obverse) and the text CARL XVI GUSTAF o SVERIGE (Carl XVI Gustaf o  Sweden). Under the portrait is the year the coin was struck.

 

On the back of the coin (reverse) is the lesser national coat of arms beneath a royal crown and the king's motto FÖR SVERIGE I TIDEN (For Sweden with the times). Below the crown is the text 1 KR. The coin has a milled edge.

 

The coin is designed by artist Lars Englund.

1-krona, minted 2000, millennium coin

This coin was minted in a limited edition to commemorate the new millennium.

The obverse carries a portrait of King Carl XVI Gustaf. The reverse carries King Carl XVI Gustaf’s crowned monogram with the legend above "För Sverige i tiden" (For Sweden—With the times) surrounded on the left by a letter "E" for the place it was minted and a letter "B" for the first letter of the Riksbank Governor’s surname and below "1 krona".
