All 2-kronor coins minted from 1876 onwards are legal tender.

The obverse of the coin carries a portrait of King Gustaf VI Adolf in profile and the text "GUSTAF VI ADOLF • SVERIGES KONUNG" (GUSTAV VI ADOLF • KING OF SWEDEN).
Above the picture is the stamp of the Swedish Mint and below the picture is the monogram of the director of the Mint.


The reverse carries the greater national coat of arms beneath a royal crown and the legend is the king’s motto "PLIKTEN FRAMFÖR ALLT" (DUTY FIRST).


The national coat of arms is encompassed by "2" and "KR" and above it is the year of minting separated by the royal orb. The coin has a milled edge and is silver in colour.

 

Metal content 1952-1966 40 % silver and alloy of 50 % copper, 5 % nickel and 5 % zinc. 1968-1971  75 % copper and 25 % nickel
