VISA REQUIREMENT AND APPLICATION
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- A valid passport (
at least 6 months after departure date).
- One (1) ID photographs.
- A photocopy of return ticket to Tanzania or an attestation from a travel agent.

For business visas: please attach a letter from your company or an invitation letter from Tanzania.

If you are applying through mail: please send a stamped self addressed registered envelop for return.
- Time required to issue visa: (3) three days.
- Fee: Payment is by cash or money order: 50 Euro
Vaccinations required:
- Yellow fever only required for visitors transiting through South America, West Africa, & Central Africa
- Malaria treatment is advised.
Opening hours:
- The Visa Department is opened Mondays to Fridays from 10H00 to 13H00.

FURTHER INFORMATION
All visitors wishing to enter The United Republic of
Tanzania must obtain an appropriate visa, except nationals of
the listed countries below, provided they are travelling on
national passport of any of the following countries: -

Antigua & Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize,
Bermuda, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Cyprus, Dominica,
Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho,
Malaysia, Malawi, Malta, Maldives, Mauritius, Namibia,
Nauru, Sao Tome & Principe Island, Saint Lucia, Saint
Vincent, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Seychelles,
Singapore, Solomon Island, Swaziland, Tuvalu, The Gambia,
Tonga, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Nationals of the East African community need neither visa
nor entry permits to enter the United Republic of
Tanzania.

If you are not a citizen of any of the above countries,
you must obtain a visa in advance to enter the United
Republic of Tanzania, particularly if you are proceeding
to Tanzania from a country where there is a Tanzania
Embassy, High Commission or Consulate to issue
visas.
EXCEPTIONS
Visitors from a country where there is no Tanzania
Embassy, High Commission or Consulate to issue visas, nor can
they easily obtain such a visa from a nearest Tanzania Visa
Office in their region, can proceed to Tanzania and obtain a
visa at one of the four points of entries in Tanzania. These
are: -

Dar-es-Salaam International Airport (DIA)
-
Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)
-
Zanzibar International Airport (ZIA)

Namanga boarder crossing point, between Tanzania and
Kenya.
The granting of a Tanzanian Visa is, in effect, only a
form of pre-entry clearance. It does not guarantee permission
to enter Tanzania. The immigration Officer reserves the right
to grant or deny admission. Visa holders are subject to normal
Immigration control at the port of entry. They should
therefore carry with them, for possible presentation to
Immigration officers, the documents submitted with their
applications.
TYPES OF VISA
Tourist Visa
-
Single Entry Tourist Visa is available with
validity of up to three months (90 days) from the date of
issue
-
Multiple Tourist Visa is available for up to
six months. For more details contact the visa section at
Tanzanian missions abroad.
Business Visa
-
Single Entry Business Visa for Business
applicants only. Application should be accompanied by an
Official Letter outlining the nature of such Business
visit. Valid for (90 days) from the date of Issue.

Multiple Business Visa can be granted for up
to one year. For more details contact the visa section at
Tanzanian missions abroad. Business-persons can apply for
6 months or 1 year a multiple business visa for business.
A letter from an established company in the country of
application will be required to introduce the applicant,
the nature of the trip and the business contact in
Tanzania.
APPLICATION PROCESS
If you wish to apply for a visa you should fill in
a form, which you can get free of charge
from the nearest Tanzanian Mission. You should check with the
Mission whether or not they are able to process your category
of application. If they cannot, they will advise you where to
apply. Your application form may be submitted by hand or by
post together with

Your passport;
-
Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs; and
-
The application fee which once processed is non
refundable.
Fees must be paid in local currency (i.e. the currency of the
country in which the Tanzanian Mission is located). You should
not send cash through the post, but bank drafts, postal or
money orders payable to the Mission may be enclosed. The
officer responsible may then be able to decide on your
application without further inquiries. However, you may have
to attend an interview, and in addition may be asked for
further documents.
Please note that if the issued visa expires before being
used, you are required to apply for a new one by fulfilling
all previous conditions without exception and once a visa is
issued, the fee is non-refundable.
