Economist at Research Division

Sveriges Riksbank, located in Stockholm, is the central bank of Sweden. The Riksbank’s main tasks are to maintain price stability and to promote a safe and efficient payment system in Sweden. The Riksbank's main instrument for implementing monetary policy is the repo rate. As part of its financial stability policy, the bank makes regular assessments of risk levels in the major Swedish commercial banks and the financial infrastructure.

The Research Division consists of ten full-time researchers with supporting staff, who conduct research in areas of importance to central banking, including macroeconomics, monetary policy, financial stability, and banking. The division hosts an international seminar series, has an active visitors program and has mutual visiting programs with the Federal Reserve Banks in Cleveland and Philadelphia. Some staff members also teach at the universities in Stockholm or work together with faculty.

Job description:

Pending budget approval, the Research Division plans to fill a vacancy for a senior or junior researcher, as of 2007. We are primarily interested in candidates with expertise in financial stability, banking or finance. However, candidates with expertise in monetary economics or macroeconomics are also encouraged to apply. People applying for a position as a senior economist should have a solid research background in their field of specialization. People applying for a junior position are expected to have obtained a PhD, or be close to finishing their graduate education.

Candidates are expected to produce high-quality research for publication in refereed journals and to provide some support to the policy divisions at the bank.
