LG, Prada to Start Selling Mobile Phone at Start of Next Year

LG Electronics Inc., Asia's second largest mobile-phone maker, and Prada Group said they will start selling a jointly developed handset at the beginning of 2007.
The device will be ``sophisticated and elegant, combining technology with an avant-garde design,'' the companies said in a faxed statement today. The mobile phone, whose price wasn't disclosed, can be operated by touching the screen, it said.
The handset will be initially available in Italy, the U.K, Germany and France and then in Asian countries including Hong Kong and Singapore. It will be sold in Korea, where LG is based, starting in the second quarter of next year, the companies said.
