New cars

New registrations of passenger cars and lorries in Sweden, January 2007

The number of new cars (first registration) totalled 22 865 in January 2007. This is an increase of 19.3 percent compared to January 2006, when 19 173 new cars were registered. An increase of 15.8 percent was noted for lorries in January 2007. 3 789 new lorries were registered compared with 3 271 in January 2006.

One person per square kilometre in Åre

Downhill skierÅre is hosting the World Ski Championships 2007. This will lead to a temporary increase in the population of the municipality, which usually has only one person per square kilometre. This compares to Stockholm where 4 107 people share every square kilometre. In November 2006, just under 10 000 people were living in Åre municipality.

Increase in prices for newly built dwellings

Based on useful floor space per square metre, the Building Price Index for multi-dwelling buildings increased by approximately 7 percent between 2004 and 2005.
