Female Graduates - HomepageNMFA’s Military Spouse Scholarship Applications Available Now!

NMFA's Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,000, are awarded to spouses of Uniformed Services members to obtain professional certification or to attend post-secondary or graduate school. The scholarship funds may be used to assist with tuition, fees, and school room and board, and are paid directly to the accredited educational institution involved. Applications are due by midnight March 15, 2007. Click here for more information or to submit an application.

 New Rules for Charitable Giving in 2007

On January 1, 2007, a new provision regarding cash contributions goes into effect. The provision is a part of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (P.L. 109-4944), which became public law earlier this year. The law states that individuals who want a tax deduction for cash contributions they make to tax-exempt organizations must prove their donation. Therefore, the organization that received the donation must provide a receipt for all cash donations regardless of the amount. <<more>>

 NMFA teams with the Military Channel to expand Military Spouse Scholarship Program

The National Military Family Association (NMFA) announces a new partnership with the Military Channel to expand the Association’s Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship Program. The Military Channel is sponsoring the initiative this year, allowing NMFA to provide additional scholarships to a larger number of deserving military spouses and bringing added exposure and visibility to the program. <<more>>

 DoDEA to Discontinue Remote Home School Program

“We understand this unique program is valued by our families,” said Joseph D. Tafoya, DoDEA director. “Unfortunately, with the funding allocation and grants expiring for this program at the end of school year 2006-2007, we will have to discontinue the Remote Location Home Schooling Program.” <<more>>
