New Passport Requirement — No Problem

January 26, 2007 — Almost all of the over 73,000 citizens from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda presented a passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere on the first day of the new requirement.

The expectation of a smooth transition to the new passport requirement is being realized as 99 percent of travelers arrived at U.S. airports with passports. Read More

Grants Announced for Infrastructure Protection and State and Local Counterterrorism

January 9, 2007 — The Department released fiscal year 2007 grant guidance and application kits for $1.7 billion in the Homeland Security Grant Program for state and local counterterrorism efforts and for $445 million in funding for state, local and private industry infrastructure protection initiatives.
