The Statistics Division is responsible for Sweden’s balance of payments and money and banking statistics, in terms of the methods, development, publication, and international and domestic reporting of the statistics.
The production of the money and banking statistics and certain components of the balance of payments has been transferred to Statistics Sweden. The statistics produced at the Riksbank include data concerning financial transactions, Sweden’s external position, and investment income. As regards the balance of payments, the Riksbank is responsible for the publication and international reporting of these statistics; the money and banking statistics are compiled by Statistics Sweden.
The division participates actively in international work to develop the methods used for the statistics, and is responsible for the quality of the statistics and for adaptations to internationally accepted definitions, etc.
The division develops computational models for components of the balance of payments and elaborates methods to guarantee and enhance the quality of the statistics.
Organisation
The Statistics Division consists of 22 people and is headed by Britt Kerkenberg.
