Largest immigration ever
During 2006, 96 000 people immigrated to Sweden. Sweden has never before had so many immigrants in one single year. Other peak years were 1970 when 77 000 people immigrated and 1994 with 83 000 immigrants.

High rate of increase of both exports and imports in 2006
Exports of goods from Sweden increased in volume by 9.4 percent during the fourth quarter of 2006 (value in constant prices), compared to the corresponding quarter in 2005. At the same time, Swedish imports of goods increased in volume by 8.7 percent.

Every tenth Swede is obese
Since the beginning of the 1980s the percentage of obese people in the population has doubled from 5 percent to 10 percent in 2005. Obesity has increased most among young women, non-manual workers and those who live outside of urban areas.

Women own less at all ages
Women owned 43 percent of the total net wealth in 2005. With age, men become richer in relation to women. Greater property ownership is one explanation for the greater wealth of men.
