2006 Bay Area Heatwave

2006 Bay Area Record Breaking Heat

Records fell this past weekend as a ridge of high pressure and a very warm airmass strengthened overhead. Numerous inland locations across the area recorded well above normal readings. The combination of hot temperatures and increased relative humidities also prompted the issuance of several heat advisories with heat indices near 110 degrees. The hottest observed temperature this past weekend was recorded at Bradley, in far Southern Monterey County, at a blistering 120 degrees. Below are two images of observed maximum temperatures for Saturday and Sunday.
