Arab League withdraws inaccurate Moroccan maps
Regional-Morocco, Politics, 12/17/1998

The Arab League decided lately to withdraw some inaccurate and false maps harming Morocco's territorial integrity.

The decision was made by the Arab Information Standing committee during its 63rd meeting opened Wednesday at the Arab league headquarters.

The committee's chairman as well as the Arab league secretary general deputy apologized to Morocco for the presence of incorrect maps at the league official documentation and ordered their withdrawal.

The Moroccan delegation, participating at the committee's proceedings, had attracted the league officials' attention that the distributed documents includes a Map dividing Morocco into two parts (North and South).

The documents included a number of maps on zones covered by the Arab satellite channels.

Several Arab delegates have expressed backing to Morocco's stand calling for the pulling out of the incorrect maps.

The standing committee of the Arab information ministerial council is discussing a number of issues related to cooperation and partnership between Arab satellite channels.
