The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan is pleased to welcome delegates, companions, and sponsors to Saskatoon for the 6th International Conference on Life Long Learning in Pharmacy, June 26-29, 2005 The Conference will be an energizing and inspiring forum for the leaders in continuing professional development for pharmacists.
The main campus of the University of Saskatchewan is located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and features some of the finest examples of Collegiate Gothic architecture in North America. It is the only university in Canada where you can find academic disciplines of human health, veterinary medicine, and agriculture together on one campus. It is also home to the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, the largest national science project in the last thirty years, and Innovation Place, one of the most successful research parks in Canada.
The main campus is 2,425 acres (981 hectares) and Innovation Place Research Park is another 500 acres (203 hectares).
The campus houses a wide range of public attractions, including: Agricultural displays; Athletic Wall of Fame; Diefenbaker Canada Centre; Gordon Snelgrove Gallery; Kenderdine Art Gallery; Beamish Conservatory; Little Stone School; MacAulay Pharmaceutical Collection; Museum of Antiquities; Museum of Natural Sciences; Observatory; Rugby Chapel; St. Thomas More Gallery; University Farm; and University Memorial Gates.
In 1913, the School of Pharmacy was formed. The School became the College of pharmacy in 1921. In 1987, the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics was established within the College and in 1994, the College changed its name to the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
The College vision is to promote optimal nutrition and rational use of medication - key elements in the prevention and treatment of disease - and to serve society by meeting the challenges of a changing health care system, supporting greater emphasis on community-based, patient-centered care.
The College offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Master's and Ph.D. in Pharmacy, and Master's and Ph.D. in Nutrition. Our mission is to prepare graduates to enter the practices of pharmacy or dietetics, or to pursue careers in pharmaceutical or nutritional sciences. Employment opportunities are excellent.
With the exception of Monday and Wednesday evenings, all LLLP Conference activities will take place at the U of S campus.
