International monetary cooperation

As an open economy, Switzerland benefits from an efficient and stable international monetary system. The Swiss National Bank contributes to international monetary cooperation by participating in various international institutions and groupings. It is a member of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the bank of central banks. The SNB, jointly with the Federal Department of Finance, represents Switzerland in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Group of Ten (G10).

SNB technical assistance

The Swiss National Bank has specific knowledge and expertise, for example in the fields of monetary policy, cash operations, or reserve management. Technical assistance focuses on imparting this knowledge and expertise to other central banks, mainly through project-related consulting and training in seminars. In addition, the Study Center Gerzensee offers courses on central banking issues.
