Magazine coverGeorgetown Magazine, the university's 140,000-circulation, award-winning alumni publication, is produced four times a year. A four-color, 48 to 56-page enterprise, the magazine's mission is to inform its readers about the achievements of alumni, faculty and staff, scholarly research, new programs, and nationally significant events. The magazine has been recognized with awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Feature story content from the magazine is used to enrich the content of the Georgetown Web.

Submitting Ideas

Georgetown Magazine welcomes suggestions for story ideas that pertain to the university, its alumni/ae and/or its faculty members. Here are some areas for which you may wish to contribute:

  • News: Send in ideas for short (typically 450 words) items that tell the reader something new about the university — a new program, a new grant, a project by a group of alumni/ae, etc. Note: This section fills up very quickly.
  • Alumni/ae profiles: We're looking for story ideas about Georgetown graduates who have made a difference in the world, or who are pursuing something interesting or unusual. We run two of these profiles in every issue.
  • Bookshelf: We hope that many Georgetown alumni-ae, faculty and staff members notify us of recently published books. Each listing includes the author, the author's connection to Georgetown, a one-sentence description of the book, and the name of the publisher. All that information must be included in your submission.
  • Feature stories: Please send any ideas you may have. Tell us who your favorite professor is, for example. We also run stories on new, Georgetown-specific programs, research and initiatives.

Demographics

  • Age: Most of the magazine's readers are 46 to 55 years old.

  • Reading Habits: More than 80 percent rate the quality of editorial content and appearance of Georgetown Magazine "excellent or good."
  • Income: Average household income is over $70,000.
