U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT - AMERICA's BEST COLLEGES 2007

Each year, U.S. News ranks colleges and universities across the country based on up to 15 indicators they believe represent academic quality. Schools are grouped into categories based on their mission, the highest level of degree conferred by discipline, and in some cases, by geographic region. Comparative charts for the various indicators are available by clicking on the links at the left.

National Universities (OU, OSU & TU)

  • University of Tulsa and the University of Oklahoma both hold positions in the top half of National University rankings.
  • Oklahoma State University remains in the 3rd tier.
  • Ten of the Big XII universities are ranked in the top half of national universities; the remaining two are in the 3rd tier.
  • The University of Oklahoma (#51), Oklahoma State University (#83), and the University of Tulsa (#129) were included in the list of 183 institutions recognized for Best Undergraduate Business Programs.
  • The University of Oklahoma's International Business, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management/Logisitics programs were recognized among U.S. News' best undergraduate business specialties.
  • Among undergraduate engineering programs (at institutions where doctorate is the highest degree offered), Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma both ranked #86.
  • The University of Tulsa is included in the list for having the Highest Proportion of Classes with Fewer than 20 Students.

Master's Universities - Western (CU, ECU, NSU, NWOSU, SEOSU, SWOSU, UCO, OCU, ORU & SNU)

  • Southwestern Oklahoma State University moved up to the 3rd tier in the rankings.
  • Three private institutions are ranked in the top half of Master's Universities (West): Oklahoma City University (#22), Oral Roberts University (#51), and Southern Nazarene University (#57).
  • Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Cameron University, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University were ranked 1-3, respectively, on the Least Debt list. The University of Central Oklahoma also received a positive citation on this list.
  • Northwestern Oklahoma State University was the only public instituion to be included in the list for having the Highest Proportion of Classes with Fewer than 20 Students. Private institutions included in this list were Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts University, and Southern Nazarene University.
  • Oklahoma City University was included in the Best Values list for this category.
  • Three private universities, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts University, and Southern Nazarene University, received recognition on the Highest Graduation Rates list.

Comprehensive Bachelor's Colleges - Western (LU, OPSU, USAO, OBU, OCU, OWU & SGU)

  • Oklahoma Baptist University is ranked #5 among western comprehensive bachelor's colleges; Oklahoma Christian University is ranked #10; and Oklahoma Wesleyan University is ranked #12 .
  • The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and St. Gregory's University are in the 3rd tier.
  • The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is listed among the Top Public Comprehensive Colleges - Bachelor's (West).
  • St. Gregory's University, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Baptist University all garnered a spot on the Least Debt list, with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma being included in the Best Values list as well.
  • Langston University is included in the Highest Graduation Rate list and is the only public institution to be included on the list for this category.
  • Three Oklahoma private universities are also included in the Highest Graduation Rate list: Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma Christian University, and Oklahoma Wesleyan Unversity.
  • Oklahoma Wesleyan University, St. Gregory's University, and the Oklahoma Baptist University were included in the Highest Proportion of Classes Under 20 list.
  • St. Gregory's University posted a relatively high spot (with 10%) on the Percentage of International Students list.
