Two Collector Coins in honour of Finnish Independency 90 years (25.92007)
Mint of Finland Ltd mints on a decree of the Finnish Ministry of Finance a 100 euro collector coin and a 5 euro collector coin in honour of the 90th anniversary of Finnish independence. Both coins are designed by sculptor Reijo Paavilainen. The collector coin with a nominal value of 100 euros is minted in gold, and the other collector coin with a nominal value of 5 euros is made of copper-nickel and Nordic Gold.   More

The design competition for the collector coin “90 years of Finnish independence” has reached a conclusion: Reijo Paavilainen succeeds again (23.8.2007)
This December, 90 years have passed since Finland became independent. In honour of the anniversary, the Finnish Ministry of Finance authorized the Collector Coin Committee to arrange a public competition for the artistic designing of two collector coins. A total of 37 proposals were received by the deadline, among which five were selected for a second round. The jury unanimously selected the best two proposals.   More

The collector coin ”Mikael Agricola and the Finnish language” is launched today (10.4.2007)
The Mint of Finland has on a decree of the Finnish Ministry of Finance minted a 10 euro silver collector coin with the title “Mikael Agricola and the Finnish language”. This year, 450 years have passed since the death of Mikael Agricola (ca 1510 – 9.4.1557), the father of the Finnish standard language and literature. This collector coin is issued to honour Agricola’s lifework as a contributor of protestant reformation in Finland and father of Finnish written language.   More

 
Coin set for Eurovision Song Contest 2007: Mint of Finland issues official coin set for song contest (29.3.2007)
Mint of Finland Ltd notices Finland’s and YLE’s (Finnish Broadcasting Company) historic hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest this year. A coin set has been produced for the song contest in cooperation with YLE, and it will serve as one of the contest’s official spin-off articles.  More

 
A joint press release from the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Finland (22.3.2007): Finland to issue a two-euro commemorative coin for the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
Finland and the other euro area countries are issuing a two-euro commemorative coin to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. In addition to the name of the issuing country, the national side of the new coin will also show the Treaty document as signed by the representatives of the six Founder Member States on 25 March 1957. A DEVIATING PRODUCTION LOT OF 2006 YEAR’S TWO EURO COINS (9.3.2007)
During the last days of the year 2006, a batch of faulty two euro coins has been delivered through the production process of Mint of Finland Ltd. These coins have the national side of year 2006. The common or reverse side of the coin contains the expanded euromap taken officially into use in the beginning of 2007. More

 
The design competition for the collector coin ”Mikael Agricola and the Finnish language” has reached a conclusion: Reijo Paavilainen’s design ”Riimien takana” (Behind the rhymes) was selected as the best proposal  (13.2.2007)
This year, 450 years have passed since the death of Mikael Agricola (ca 1510 – 1557), the father of the Finnish standard language and literature. In honour of Agricola’s lifework, a silver collector coin is minted. The Collector Coin Committee set by the Finnish Ministry of Finance arranged a public competition for the design of the collector coin. A total of 23 proposals were received by the deadline of 29th January, 2007, among which the jury unanimously selected the best proposal.  More
