INDONESIA'S Supreme Court has ruled in favour of ex-dictator Suharto in his lawsuit against Time Asia magazine, ordering it to pay him one trillion rupiah ($128.59 million) in damages, a court official said today.

"We accept the suit filed by Suharto and refuse the decision of the Appeal Court and Central Jakarta District Court," Supreme Court spokesman Nurhadi said, referring to rulings against Suharto made in 2000 and 2001.

The former Indonesian President had been seeking more than $US27bn ($32bn) in the defamation suit filed against US-based Time Magazine over a 1999 article alleging he had stashed a massive amount of money abroad.
