Libya Elected to UN Security Council
Libya has been elected to nonpermanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the years 2008-09 on Tuesday citing support of the African Union and good relations with Washington.

Libya, France Military Accord Came into Force on 25 September
According to new details of a defense agreement between Libya and France, the agreement has come into effect on 25 September.
The details appeared in the French government's official gazette.
The accord covers the sale of military equipment and training Libyan military forces.

Speaking in Brussels to reporters after a visit to the European Parliament, five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor who infected 438 Libyan children with HIV in a Benghazi children hospital said they waived their right to seek redress from Libya upon their release from prison in July said they "Yes, we signed such papers," Dr Ashraf al-Hazouz told journalists at the European Parliament, where the group attended meetings with the assembly's political groups and president.
