Egypt Secure Final Nations Cup Place
Needing a win over Botswana to qualify to the finals of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana next January, defending champions Egypt did just that, by the narrowest margins, defeating minnows Botswana in Cairo 1-0.

Argentina Begin World Cup Qualifiers With Victory over Chile
At the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina started their 2010 World Cup qualifiers in the South American zone with a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Chile.

Germany Become first Qualifiers for Euro 2008
Germany became the first team to qualify for next June's Euro 2008 following a 0-0 draw against Republic of Ireland, as with three games still to play, they have built a three-point lead over Czech Republic Germany in Group D. This is the earliest they have qualified for a major finals, so will be one of the 16 teams at Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

Sudanese Qualify to Confederation Cup Final Despite Loss
Sudan’s El Merreikh joined CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup as despite losing the second leg semi-final tie against Nigeria’s Dophins by 3-0 they managed to win Group B ahead of the Nigerians thanks to their superior head-to-head record.

Raikkonen Wins in China as Hamilton Retires
English Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton failed to get any points from the GP of China in Shanghai Sunday morning as he was forced to retire, and left the championship battle wide open as his main rivals for the title, McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who won Sunday’s race slashed his lead to four and seven points respectively. Etoile Sahel Become First CAF Champions League Finalists
Etoile Sahel of Tunisia have reached their third CAF Champions League final in the last four years after beating Al Hilal of Sudan in the return tie of their semi-final clash at Sousse. Etoile are through on a 4-3 aggregate score as they lost the first leg in Omdurman by 2-1.

Another Tunisian Club Reaches CAF Competiton Final
CS Sfaxien became the second team from Tunisia to reach the final of a CAF football competition this season when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in Pretoria 2-1 to qualify to the final of the African Confederation Cup after topping Group A.
