More borrowers choose fixed interest rates
Households borrowed SEK 28 billion from housing credit institutions in September. This is a decrease of SEK 4 billion compared to August. In September, 58.4 percent of households chose loans with a fixed rate of interest, compared to 54.5 percent in August. The corresponding figure for September 2006 was 47.3 percent.

Increased income differences
The economic standard for households continued to increase in 2006. At the same time the gap between high and low income earners has never been greater.

Increase in Swedish import prices in September
Swedish import prices increased by 2.1 percent from August to September, mainly due to higher prices for crude oil and petroleum products. Producer prices (combined import and export prices) increased by 0.6 percent. Export prices were up 0.7 percent, while producer prices on the domestic market increased by 0.3 percent.

Record number of hours worked
In September, the number of employed people amounted to 4 430 000, an increase of 85 000 compared to September 2006. 195 000 people were unemployed, a decrease of 29 000 compared to September 2006.

Imports increased by 3 percent
In September 2007, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 94.2 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 86.0 billion. As a result, the net trade surplus was SEK 8.2 billion.
