Members

The Executive Board consists of the following members:

 

Stefan Ingves, mandate period six years from 1 January 2006

Stefan Ingves is Chairman of the Executive Board and Governor of the Riksbank. Mr Ingves is a member of the ECB General Council and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He is also Sweden’s governor in the International Monetary Fund. Mr Ingves has previously been Director of the Monetary and Financial Systems Department at the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Governor of the Riksbank and General Director of the Swedish Bank Support Authority. Prior to that he was Under-Secretary and Head of the Financial Markets Department at the Ministry of Finance. Stefan Ingves holds a PhD in economics.
   

Lars Nyberg, mandate period six years from 1 January 2006

Lars Nyberg is Deputy Governor. He has been appointed by the Government to the Board of Finansinspektionen (the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority) and is the Riksbank’s representative in the group of deputies for the G10 Ministers and Governors. Mr Nyberg is also a member of the ESCB’s Banking Supervision Committee. Mr Nyberg is an associate professor in economics and has previously been Deputy CEO at Svenska Handelsbanken and Swedbank and CEO of Länsförsäkringsbolagens förening. Lars Nyberg is responsible for presenting proposals for Financial Stability Reports and proposals on measures aimed at ensuring the stability and efficiency of the payment system.
 

Kristina Persson, mandate period six years from 1 May 2001

Kristina Persson is Deputy Governor. Ms Persson is a graduate in business administration, has been governor of the county of Jämtland, and has worked at the Ministry of Finance, the Institute for Futures Studies, and as economist at the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO). She has also been a Member of Parliament and its Committee on Finance, a member of the Riksbank’s General Council and a member of the European Parliament. Ms Persson is responsible for presenting proposals on strategic information and communication issues.
 

Irma Rosenberg, term of office six years from 1 January 2003

Irma Rosenberg is First Deputy Governor. Ms Rosenberg participates in BIS meetings together with the Riksbank Governor. She holds a PhD in economics and has previously been chief economist at the mortgage institution SBAB and at Sweden Post and Postgirot Bank, as well as head of research and head of forecasting at the National Institute of Economic Research and head of the economic analysis group at the Riksbank. She is responsible for presenting proposals for Inflation Reports and decisions on monetary and exchange rate policy measures, as well as for matters relating to the ownership of the Riksbank’s subsidiaries.
 

Svante Öberg, mandate period six years from 1 January 2006

Svante Öberg is Deputy Governor. Mr Öberg represents the Riksbank in the OECD's Working Party Three. Mr Öberg has previously been General Director of Statistics Sweden and the National Institute of Economic Research, state secretary at the Ministry of Finance and adviser at the International Monetary Fund. He is responsible for presenting proposals regarding fundamentally important opinions and for making decisions in other matters relating to consultation documents.
