Business Support and Payment Services Division

The Business Support and Payment Services Division administers and settles transactions in the Riksbank’s gold and foreign exchange reserve management. The division’s activities include transactions in foreign securities, futures and currencies as well as lending to banks in the form of deposits and repos. The division also manages collateral for the credits granted by the Riksbank in the RIX system and is responsible for the management and support of the business system used in the financial activities.

 

The division also contains the function that is responsible for the Riksbank’s payment system (RIX) for large-value payments in Swedish krona. The main objective is to ensure that the system is run in a safe, efficient manner.  The payment flows in the system, which reach a volume of some 8,000 payments totalling around SEK 500 billion per day, are monitored continually during the system’s opening hours (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.). 

 

The division is also responsible for initiating development and administration of the system and for providing support to the system participants.  In addition, the division is responsible for producing proposals for the pricing of the services in the system, for following up these incomes and expenditures and for contacts with system participants in general.

 

Organisation

The division consists of 20 persons. The head of the division is Ingela Nachtweij.
