Financial stability
One of the Riksbank's core functions is to promote a safe and efficient payment system. The payment system is important for all economic activities and is a central component of the financial system. The Riksbank's assessment of stability is published twice yearly in the Financial Stability Report. READ MORE
THE FINANCIAL STABILITY REPORT
The latest Financial Stability Report

The Riksbank’s assessment is that financial stability is good. Profitability in the Swedish banks has continued to increase and the indications are that their capacity to manage unexpected negative events is good. This is revealed in the report published on 24 May 2007.

At the same time, there are a number of risks that could in the long term, in the case of a deterioration in the economic situation, have a negative effect on stability. The Riksbank sees a risk of substantial price adjustments in several asset markets, including the credit market and the commercial property market. Other risks are the developments in the Baltic countries and also house prices and household debts, which continue to increase at a high rate.
