An initiative for secondary school students
THE BANK OF ITALY IS TO AWARD PRIZES FOR MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE COMPETITIONS
As part of a project to support the teaching of technical and science subjects to Italian students, the General Council of the Bank of Italy has decided to award prizes to young people who distinguish themselves in mathematics and computer science competitions.
The prizes will consist of three-week study holidays to be spent learning or improving a foreign language at a school or institute in a country of the European Union, the cost of which will be reimbursed up to a total of €50,000. The winners will receive the prizes from the Ministry of Public Education at the end of the selection process.
Two competitions have been chosen in agreement with the Ministry:
- the "Archimedes Games", for secondary school students. The Bank will award prizes to the ten winners as follows: three from each of northern, central and southern mainland areas of Italy and one from the islands.
- the "International Olympics", for upper secondary school students. The Bank will award prizes to the ten students belonging to the winning teams of the national competitions for mathematics and computer science, who will go on to take part in the international finals.
