Updating previous story- Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul made online fund raising history today. As of 4:00 PM this afternoon Paul’s campaign announced that it had risen 2.7 million today in online contributions (and still counting) from approximately 21,000 donors.

Ron Paul’s record beat John Kerry’s record that came two days after the Super Tuesday primaries in 2004. This makes Paul’s online fundraising effort largest single day online fund raising effort in history by a presidential candidate.

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul will pass the 6 million dollars mark today for this quarter with almost 2 months to go till the end of the quarter. (at 5.8 million at the moment and counting) Paul made headlines last quarter when he raised over 5.2 million in the third quarter and had over 5.4 million in cash on hand.

Paul was the only Republican to have raised more money in the third quarter than in the second quarter and has already raised more money in the 4rth quarter than he did in the third quarter.

Ron Paul’s campaign website shows donations received in real time. The tactic had improved an already successful online fund raising operation allowing the campaign to further engage visitors with fund raising efforts.

Paul got a boost today as online activists promoted a one day fund raising drive for Monday November 5th. The goal was to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each and raise 10 million dollars in a single day.

It isn’t clear if the goal of 10 million dollars will be achieved but today’s money flow hasn’t lost any momentum at this time. The effort is especially impressive since Paul's campaign had nothing to do with it.

Paul’s campaign had set their own ambitious goal of 12 million for the quarter. So far today Paul’s campaign is on pace to break the half way mark of 6 million dollars.

While the 10 million dollar goal of activists is still possible, a 4 million dollar day or better is likely.

Paul continues to draw large crowds at events, his website gets more traffic than his rivals, and his name is searched online more than all the other candidates. Even the Washington Post traffic goes up when they write Ron Paul articles.

Paul’s campaign may have just proved media generated polls obsolete.

Ron Paul advocates eliminating the federal income tax, reforming the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies, along with protecting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Paul voted against the Iraq war and promises to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq. A military non interventionist, Paul has criticized what he called ‘war propaganda’ to get Americans to support bombing Iran and has cautioned against starting a new Cold War with Russia.

Paul has stated that the ‘U.S. is overextended’ and that America is ‘borrowing money from China to finance the war with Iraq.’ He claims ‘the cost of maintaining empire overseas is bankrupting America.”

Paul also supports securing U.S. borders and reforming immigration policies.

Longtime Republican, Paul was one of four Congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan’s failed presidential run against Gerald Ford in 1976. Visit the USA Daily Forum to discuss this and other issues.
