Malaysia Airlines Takes Flight to MEGACITIES on National Geographic Channel

Kuala Lumpur, 14 September 2005 - National Geographic Channel and Malaysia Airlines are jointly presenting a special series of global theme week documentaries titled, MEGACITIES WEEK, which will premiere on the Channel from 18 - 24 September 2005 at 9.00 pm (HKG/MAL/SGP).

Malaysia Airlines is the presenting sponsor of this theme week special in Asia Pacific and Europe. The partnership aims to provide viewers with unique insights into the world's most sophisticated metropolises and raise awareness of the global destinations that Malaysia Airlines serves.

"We are delighted to be partnering Malaysia Airlines for MEGACITIES WEEK, where we take viewers into the inner sanctum of the world's most advanced cities," said Ms Yvonne Tay, Director of Advertising Sales and Integrated Marketing for Southeast Asia, National Geographic Channel Asia (Singapore).

Ms Tay added, "One key element of the campaign will be the airing of a series of National Geographic Channel produced Megacities vignettes featuring unique aspects of these global metropolises, many of which are served by Malaysia Airlines. With the support of Malaysia Airlines, we are able to bring to our viewers and the public a broader perspective of the other side of cities that most of us would otherwise not be aware of".

Viewed by over 100 million homes across Asia Pacific and Europe, each of the 45-second on-air interstitials produced by National Geographic Channel for Malaysia Airlines will highlight the people, landmarks, infrastructure and the systems that keep these cities going.

Encik Yazid Mohamed, Assistant General Manager, Advertising Promotions and Branding, for Malaysia Airlines said, "We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of National Geographic Channel's MEGACITIES WEEK. With the global reach of this program we hope to increase viewers' awareness of Malaysia Airlines as one of the world's 5-Star airlines, connecting passengers to over 110 destinations across 6 continents."

Malaysia Airlines' sponsorship of MEGACITIES WEEK will be further enhanced in Asia through integrated marketing communications covering on-ground promotions, radio contests in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as local and regional print advertising in Asia.

In addition, Malaysia Airlines is supporting a global contest during this period where the grand prize winner will win a pair of return Business Class air tickets for travel to one of the Megacities destinations served by the airline. Another 2 winning couples will travel Economy Class to 2 Malaysia Airlines' destination in Asia. All contest winners will also receive a set of National Geographic Channel "Megacities Traveller Kit".

Details for participation in the global contest could be found on the web site http://www.ngcasia.com/mas/megacities.
