In the Walsh Black Box
In the Blood is Suzan-Lori Park’s groundbreaking riff on The Scarlet Letter. We journey with Hester La Negrita and her five children as they negotiate the perils of poverty and debilitating systems, while clinging to familial joy. Gut-wrenching and heartbreaking, yet oddly humorous in moments, the play is an example of Park’s mastery of penetrating language and probing action.
