Commemorative coin to celebrate Selma Lagerlöf

12/03/2008 The Riksbank will issue two commemorative coins to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Selma Lagerlöf. The coins will be presented by Chairman of the General Council Johan Gernandt at a ceremony at the National Library of Sweden, Stockholm, on Thursday 13 March at 10.00 am.   Read more

06/03/2008 In the debate on monetary policy it has sometimes been argued that the Riksbank should be more transparent on how it takes real economic activity into consideration. The authors of the first article in a new series, ”Economic Commentaries” discuss what might constitute an appropriate objective for this. Today the Riksbank is publishing the first of its ”Economic Commentaries”. The Riksbank is also launching a new database of monetary statistics ranging from the Middle Ages up to the present day. Among other things, the database contains a CPI series from the 13th century.  Read more

The Riksbank

Sveriges Riksbank is Sweden’s central bank and a public authority under the Riksdag, the Swedish parliament.  The Riksbank is responsible for conducting monetary policy, the objective of which is to maintain a low and stable level of inflation. The Bank also has the task of ensuring that payments in the economy can be made safely and efficiently.
