Teacher Training: Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
CLED offers an innovative teacher training program called Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). This course is taught online for five months, followed by a one-week practicum at the Georgetown University campus.
We have designed the program for individuals interested in teaching English as a Foreign Language outside the U.S. Participants may be new to teaching or have taught in other fields.
The curriculum emphasizes communicative language teaching and focuses on the practical application of foundation theory. Participants must teach a lesson using the principles learned in the course in order to receive a certificate of completion from Georgetown University.
The TEFL certificate is not recognized by U.S. boards of education but overseas internships may be available for those who successfully complete the program.
